KUCHING (Dec 12): A total of 42 orphans under the care of Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia in Sarawak received donations in conjunction with the upcoming Christmas celebrations.
Former Prime Minister, Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report today, said that the donations were also extended to 21 families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This programme aims to support children who lost their parents during the Covid19 pandemic and bring some joy to them during the festive season,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after paying a courtesy call on the Yang Di Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at Astana Negeri in Petra Jaya here today.
Ismail Sabri said that the distribution reflects the foundation’s commitment to caring for the welfare of communities nationwide.
“This is one of Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia’s annual initiatives to assist orphans. For this Christmas, Sarawak was selected as the distribution location.
“For the Muslim community, donations are given during Aidilfitri, and recently, we provided contributions for Deepavali,” he said
Ismail Sabri said this was his first visit to Sarawak after the recent elections and after Wan Junaidi’s appointment as the Sarawak Governor.
“I share a close relationship with him, as during my tenure as Prime Minister, he served as the Minister of Law,” he added.
